Albert W. Slater, 86 a lifelong resident of Poughkeepsie, NY passed away on October 25, 2015 at Quaker Hill Manor, Hyde Park, NY.  Born on December 29, 1928 in Poughkeepsie, NY, he was the son of the late William Slater and Pauline Hafner.  Albert was employed at Saint Francis Hospital as a Custodian for 30 years retiring in 2002.  Albert was a past member of Roosevelt Fire Department, Engine Co. #2, the Exempt Firemen's Association in Poughkeepsie and the Hudson Valley Railroad Society.  Albert served proudly in the United States Navy from 1948-1954.  He served on the Aircraft Carriers USS Franklin D. Roosevelt (DVB-42) and the USS Antietam (CVS-36) as an electricians mate during the Korean War.  He received the National Defense Service Medal.

Survivors include his good friends John and Rhoda Gruner, Christopher Petsas and Vicki Hosier all of Poughkeepsie, NY.
