It is with a heavy heart and great love that we announce the passing of Alex Peter Hogan, 28, of Cary, North Carolina, who was born on July 2, 1997, and passed away on August 9, 2025. Alex attended Apex High School and had a deep passion for working outdoors. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, kindness, generosity, sense of humor, curiosity, and love for both domestic and wild animals. His spirit was infectious, and he was cherished by all who knew him—the love for adventurous outdoor activities, including skateboarding, rock climbing, disc golf, and snowboarding. The ability to convince you it is not raining in a downpour, while he is selling you a raincoat.  He was predeceased by his grandmother, Mary Ann Darrow, and his grandfather and step-grandmother, John & Marjorie Hogan. Alex is survived by his mother, Kelly Darrow Hogan of Cary, North Carolina; his father and stepmother, Peter Hogan and Telka Clem of Texarkana, Texas; his brother, Zackary Hogan of Charlotte, North Carolina; his sister and brother-in-law, Emaly and Chris House of Texarkana, Texas; his grandfather, Jerome "Jerry" Darrow of Cary, North Carolina; and his grandmother, Margaret Hogan Law of Texarkana, Texas. He is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Apex Funeral Home, 550 W. Williams St., Apex, NC 27502. A remembrance gathering will follow at a local establishment, where family and friends will gather to share stories, laughter, and the love Alex showed to everyone in his life.
