Obituary

Alexander W. Hosier Jr, 58 of Poughkeepsie, NY passed away on Friday December 26, 2014 at Mid Hudson Regional Hospital of Westchester Medical Center, with his loving family by his side. Born on October 4, 1956 in Poughkeepsie, NY he was the son of the late Alexander W. Hosier Sr. and Agnes Wilkinson.  Al as known by all was educated in the Poughkeepsie School System.  Al worked for the Poughkeepsie Journal for many years until his retirement in 2002.  Al was employed by Abilities First as a job counselor until his death. In 1982 in Hyde Park, NY he married Vicki Dors, who survives at home.   Al's love was for the Fire Service.  Al was a volunteer with the City of Poughkeepsie Fire Department at O.H.Booth Hose where he served as Lieutenant, than joining the Roosevelt Fire District, Engine Co. #2 and served as Fire Police Lieutenant and President of Engine Co. #2.  Al was also Past President of the Exempt Firemen's Association in Poughkeepsie.  Al was a member of the Dutchess County Volunteer Firemen's Association; a past member of the O. H. Booth Fife and drum corps and Vagabond Junior Drum Corps.  Al had made a run for 3 rd Ward Councilman in Poughkeepsie, was a member of the Christmas in April Program, a member of St. Mary's Church in Poughkeepsie, helped with the food for Vets program and loved most of all Playing Santa Claus.  Al was an avid Yankees and Giants Fan and loved Fishing and Hunting.  He always enjoyed spending time with his grand children. Besides his wife Al is survived by his children; Lisa Hosier-Babcock and husband Charlie of South Dakota; Alex hosier and Alicia Fisher of South Dakota and Shirley Hosier of Poughkeepsie; his grand children; Danielle Babcock, Isabel Babcock, Sophia Hosier and Rosalie Hosier-White.  Al is also survived by his Brother in Law's Vinny and Kathi Dors and Bruce and Mary Beth Dors; several nieces, nephews and cousins.  Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother Bob Hosier. A memorial Service will be held on Tuesday January 6, 2015 from 12pm to 1pm at Joseph J. Darrow Sr. Funeral Home, 39 So. Hamilton Street, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 (845)452-1840.
