Obituary

For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: 2 Timothy 4: 6-7 KJV

Bertha was born in Brunswick County Virginia on October 27, 1934, to Jessie Lloyd and Virginia Wise. She was educated in the public school system in Virginia. She joined the local church in Brunswick County and was active in her community.  In the early 60's James and Bertha migrated to Dutchess County NY.

Upon arrival in NY the family joined Central Baptist Church (CBC) in Salt Point NY under the guidance of Reverend Robert Dixon, Sr. Bertha became an active member of Central. She served as Senior Choir Servant Leader, Chairperson of the W. J. Douglas Scholarship, she was consecrated a Deaconess and was also a member of the Missionary Ministry. Mrs. Moseley has always been supportive of the youth and has been a mentor and 'mom' to many. Bertha continues to be an active member of CBC when her health allows her too. She is famous for her culinary skills and often has been asked to share her "secret recipes." Her children and grandchildren became members of CBC and were supportive of the Church. Bertha was a Beacon of Light and Hope in the lives of her family.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband James of 68 years,  3 daughters, Dale, Elaine and Charlene; Nine grandchildren, MonRay, Monica, Michael, Michelyn, Meghan, Allen, Jr., Shamarae, Senghor and Shalaine. One sister, Marie Cubit (Andrew), one brother Stanley and a host of nieces and nephews and friends.

She was predeceased by her baby boy Calvin, whom she is now reunited with along

with her best friend Sister Norma Green; her brother Waverly Hicks and her sister Annie Mary Thomas.

Bertha's favorite scripture is the 23 rd Psalm. She states "that this was the first scripture that she learned to recite when she was in school and that she still knows it by heart". In difficult times, she says it always gets her through. The "Lord's prayer" and "He's Sweet I Know" were also very special to Bertha.
