Carl Elvis Ashe, 69, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2026, at ArchCare at Ferncliff Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center. Born in Creswell North Carolina, Carl was a man full of life, energy, and heart. Carl worked as an environmental specialist for over 20 years at HealthAlliance Hospital and Bard College. He was known for his positive spirit, friendly personality, and the deep love and respect he had for his family. His presence brought warmth and joy to those around him, and he had a way of making people smile simply by being himself. Carl enjoyed his cars, bicycling, jogging, basketball, singing, dancing, and building or repairing things around his home. He was always active, creative, and willing to lend a helping hand. Whether he was working with his hands or enjoying music and laughter with loved ones, Carl lived life with enthusiasm and joy. Above all Carl’s greatest passion was his unwavering faith in Jesus Christ and dedication to his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend whose love for his family was evident in everything he did. Those who knew Carl will remember his uplifting energy, kind heart, and unwavering dedication to the people he loved most. Carl is survived by his loving wife, Karen Ashe; his children, William Bunn Jr. (Carmita), Shameeka Gerard (Jason), Tia, Jamar, Lataye, and Aki Ashe; and his treasured grandchildren, Nerio Bunn (Ahlam), Yazmi, Gerard Dinkins (Travis), Sahshe, Miyor (Jordan), Mianu Gerard, Sean II, and Ace Permenter, Tionni and Zani Davis, and Aston Revange, as well as his great-grandchildren Yasmina, Aria, and Leonardo. He is survived by his siblings, Diane Ashe, Ricky Ashe (Sonia), Wade Ashe (Vanessa), and Carnie Ashe. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marie Ashe, his sister, Juanita Ashe-Creecy, and his maternal grandparents, Pearl M. Ashe and Herman W. Ashe. Though his passing leaves an immeasurable void, Carl’s love, laughter, strength, and vibrant spirit will continue to live on through all who were blessed to know him.

Visitation will be held on Thursday May 14, 2026, from 9:30am to 10:30am at the Beulah Baptist Church, 92 Catharine Street/JVB Way, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
