Obituary

Charles (Charlie)Francis Wood passed away peacefully on May 27,2023. He was born November 20,1929 to parents William and Winnifred Wood in Detroit, Michigan

Charlie outlived his wife of 66 years, Eleanor Joanne, as well as his brother William and his two sisters Patricia and Gloria. He is survived by his three children, William Wood (wife Monika and son Patrick), Robert Wood (wife Tracy and son Timothy), and Suzanne Trachtenberg ( husband Craig and three daughters Nicole, Lindsay and Alyssa), and his three great grandsons ( Noah, Logan and Matteo).

Charlie worked from the age of twelve at a wide variety of jobs ranging from women's shoe salesman to radiator assembly- line worker. He earned a GED and entered the army where he served as a cook and a paratrooper, He then met and married Eleanor Joanne in 1957. Charlie received a bachelor's degree from Eastern Michigan University and a Master's of Education degree at Syracuse University. Charlie taught high school history and social studies at Brookfield High School and Onteora High School for a total of thirty years until he retired in 1987. In his free time Charlie's passions were golfing, photography, fishing, and spending time at Otsego Lake in Cooperstown NY with his family Charlie liked nothing better than a bad pun and he had a heart as big as they come. There will be no formal services for Charlie but his family will be holding a private celebration of life to honor him. Arrangements have been entrusted to Joseph J.
