Charlie Wimberly Sr., of Poughkeepsie, NY passed away on October 6, 2014 at the age of 84. He was born in Twiggs County, GA to Rosa Curry and T Wimberly. He married Irene Smith who predeceased him in 2006. Charlie moved to Washington, D.C. in his early 20's, then onto Poughkeepsie. Working as a maintenance supervisor for IBM for many years retiring in 1994. He was also employed at International Harvest. Mr. Wimberly was very involved in the church. He will always be remembered for his wonderful prayers and singing. He was part of many gospel singing groups which of one, Kingdom Trumpeteers. He got the opportunity to sing on the Willie Hudson show. Mr. Wimberly was predeceased by 2 sons; Charlie Jr. and Michael Wimberly, 3 grandsons; Christopher A. Cosby, Torrey L. Cruickshank, and Charles J. Wimberly., 2 brothers; and 3 sisters of Macon, GA. He leaves to cherish his memory; 1 brother; Rev. Willie Wimberly and wife Wanetha of Macon, GA., 2 daughters; Rose Gordon of Poughkeepsie and Donna White of Hyde Park., 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
