Derek D. Frederick, 33 of Pleasant Valley, NY passed away unexpectedly on Saturday October 1, 2022.  Born in Poughkeepsie, NY on May 18, 1989, he was the son of Frances Briody who loves him dearly. Derek was employed by the Hyde Park Central School District Transportation Department as a mechanic.  Derek enjoyed living life on the edge, going out and having fun and being around his family.  His passion was working on cars, he specifically loved Subaru cars.  He loved being outdoors, camping, hiking and off roading with his jeep.

Besides his mother, Derek is survived by his brother Brian Vail and wife Shela, his sisters Stacey Vail and husband Jason Carao; Stephanie Farrell and her husband James; step sister Amanda Briody; his nieces Brianna Vail, and Sophia Farrell; nephews Jason Carao, John Carao and Jameson Farrell.  Derek was fortunate to have two special father figures in his life who looked after and helped him throughout his life, Cliffy Vail who was present his entire life and stepdad John Briody who came into his life when he was around 10 years old.  Derek also had a dog named Dutchess who passed away a couple years ago and his current dog Daphne who he loved dearly. He is also survived by his biological father Kevin Frederick.  He is loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
