Donald H. Johnson, 79, of Poughkeepsie, NY passed onto his eternal life at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.  He was born on July 30, 1942, to Clara I. Nicholas and Thomas Malcom (Mack) Johnson in Poughkeepsie, NY.  Donald attended City of Poughkeepsie School District, he was a self-employed roofer and handyman.  On August 22, 1964, he married Mary Mitchell who survives at home.  Donald was an avid pool player (billiards) he also loved fishing down by the river and last but not least he enjoyed dancing but most of all he enjoyed being with his family and friends.  He loved riding his bike throughout Poughkeepsie.  He was a former member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and later became a member of Beulah Baptist Church.  He loved attending church services when he could.

Besides his wife, Donald is survived by his children; Deniece Diggs (Anthony) Jamaica NY, Howard K. Johnson and Tyrone L. Johnson of Poughkeepsie, NY, thirteen grand children and nine great grand children and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins and his aunt Elizabeth (Bessie) Riley. Other survivors include Janette Parker, Ralph, Larry, Clifton Johnson (DeLois), Lorraine Yager, Gail Johnson, Margo Monroe, Carlton Johnson (Sonia) and Kay Littlejohn.

Donald was predeceased by his parents, sisters; Marion E. Stanton, Izetta Bowman, Betty Evans and Debra Dougherty, brothers; William, Leonard, Robert, and Arthur Johnson. Services will be Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at the Joseph J. Darrow Sr Funeral Home Inc. 39 So Hamilton St Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 845-452-1840. The repose is 9-11AM, private funeral service at 11AM, with procession to follow to Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery. COVID 19 protocols will be followed.
