Dorothy M. Butler, 84, of Poughkeepsie, NY passed away on January 2, 2022. She was born April 8, 1937, in Claxton, GA to the late Moses Johnson and Gussie Mae Braggs. Dorothy graduated school from Evans County Claxton, GA. She married Albert Butler Sr in Poughkeepsie, NY on February 7, 1975. In 1999 she retired from employment at Vassar Warner Home in Poughkeepsie, NY. She was a member of the Redeeming Life Worship Church.

Dorothy is survived by her husband; Albert Butler Sr, two sons; Calvin Epps and Marvin Butler Sr (Alympia) of Poughkeepsie, NY, two stepsons; Albert Butler Jr. (Sheryl) of Silver Springs, MD, Franklee Butler of Washington DC, four stepdaughters; Lucille Tillman, Mae Frances Butler, Pamela Moore of Washington DC, Crystal Johnson of Newport News, VA, a brother; Johnny Johnson Sr of Poughkeepsie, NY, three sisters; Rubydell Slater of Poughkeepsie, NY, Betty Smith of Raleigh, NC, Willie Mae Wilson (Moses) of Dover, DE,  one brother-in-law; Emory Butler Jr. of Charleston, SC, one sister-in-law; Rose Johnson of Jersey City, NJ, 15 grandchildren, 15 greatgrandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, a son; James L Epps, a granddaughter; Aliyah Merritt, two grandsons; Kelvin Chase and Eugene Johnson, two brothers; Sylvester Johnson and Larry Johnson, a brother-in-law; Ernest Smith.
