Edward Philip Diehl Jr. was born to Ethel Ericsson Diehl and Edward Philip Diehl of Staten Island, NY on June 16, 1936. He left this world on June 20, 2017, while residing in Poughkeepsie, NY. He had survived his parents and his two brothers David and Ronald Peter Diehl.

Eddie's 3 children and grandchildren survive him. His son Stefan Louis Diehl and his grandson Stefan Louis Diehl Jr., of NYC, his daughter Ellora Johari Diehl, her son Durell Roosevelt Lafitte, and her daughter Rachael Grace Young of Livermore, CA. His step-daughter Vanessa Diehl and her daughter Chloe Guy Diehl of Orlando, Florida. He also leaves behind countless friends including; Larry Packard of Accord, NY whom he knew for 50 years. Eddie was an extraordinary guitarist who played, taught, and recorded with some of the best musicians, including the Jack McDuff band, Miriam Makeba, Harry Belafonte, Lou Pappas, Hank Jones, Hank Mobley and George Benson to name a few. He owned his own guitar shop at the Folklore Center in NYC, and played at Smalls Paradise in Harlem, and the Village Gate in Greenwich Village in the 60's and 70's. He was also an accomplished Luthier and visual artist. His most recent album "Well, Here it is" can be found under the label, Lineage Records. His theories, wisdom and sense of humor will be sorely missed. We love you dad.
