Edward David Douglas, 71, a lifetime resident of Poughkeepsie, NY passed away February 20, 2016 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, surrounded by loving family and friends. He was born to the late Edward and Teresa (Germond) Douglas on August 19, 1944. Edward attended Our Lady of Lourdes High School, where he was the first graduating class in 1962. He went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts in English at Marist College. Edward was an English teacher at Highland High School for over 40 years, much loved by his students who dedicated the year book to him on several occasions.

Edward enjoyed vacationing in Lake George, NY and Winter Haven, Fl., golfing, boating and playing card games.

He is survived by two paternal aunts; Helen Ward and Maggie Smith, first cousins; Linda DeGrandis, Alice Dunagan and William Davidson,  along with numerous other loving cousins, former students and grateful friends. He was a devout member of AA for over 25 years, and was a mentor to many people; positively changing their lives.

Edward is pre-deceased by paternal aunts and uncles, maternal aunts and uncles and first cousin; Joseph C. Davidson Jr. "He will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts!"

A memorial service will be held at St. Mary's Church in Poughkeepsie, NY on Saturday, March 19th at 10:30am. Inurnment will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery, Poughkeepsie, NY. Donations to be made in memory of Edward to the American Lung Association.
