Eleanor J. Quick- Formerly of Poughkeepsie and Ulster Park died July 11 ^th 2015, at Ferncliff Nursing Center. Just five days short of her 98 ^th birthday. Eleanor was born on July 16 1917 in Port Ewen, the daughter of Daniel and Ellen Harriet (Sherwood) Stokes. Her mother passed away when she was only 1 year old. She was then raised by her maternal Grandmother in the Methodist faith.

She attended Highland schools and resided in the Hudson valley most of her life. She was a self-employed dressmaker and owned her own store in Poughkeepsie.  She was a previous member of the Loyal Order of Moose in Port Ewen and a member of Germania of Poughkeepsie.

Eleanor had four Children, Alfred S., Clarence (Cal), Richard A. and Patricia A Baker. On August 14 1969 she married Edward D. Quick, who predeceased her in 1995.

Eleanor enjoyed Traveling, dancing, reading and sewing. She had an extensive stamp collection and was very knowledgeable in Geography. Most of all Eleanor loved her family very much. Easter and Thanksgiving at Grandma's were always very special.

She leaves behind her close friend and daughter in law, Helga Baker. 10 grandchildren including Mark Baker of Rhinebeck and Dina (Mike) Fauci of Hyde Park and 15 Great-Grandchildren. She was especially close to Stephanie, Michael and Katie Fauci. Eleanor is also survived by her half-sister Arleta Schneider.

Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her four children and half siblings, Janice Schneider, Jasper and Daniel Stokes.

In keeping with Eleanor's wishes there are no calling hours and cremation has taken place. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
