Mother Ella Mae Holland, 91, of Poughkeepsie, New York, transitioned peacefully on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at Vassar Brothers Hospital surrounded by friends and family. She was born in Sylvester, Georgia on March 6, 1934, to the late AJ Patterson Sr. and Charity Rockwell.  She was a member of the Church of the Living God United serving on the Kitchen Committee, the Usher Board, and singing with the Gospel Chorus. Ella was an active member until her sickness prevented her from performing her duties. She worked at the Lovely Hill Nursing Home - Pawling, NY until her retirement.  Ella leaves to cherish her memories her sister Cora Hughes of Gainesville, FL; 2 brothers, James Patterson of Valdosta, GA and David Patterson of Tampa, FL; sons David Jordan of Poughkeepsie NY, Ronald Holland of White Plains, NY, and Edward Holland of South Carolina, stepson Saul Holland, Jr. of Poughkeepsie, NY; two step daughters; Brenda Williams of Michigan and Julie Holland of Albany, NY; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; a special grand-  daughter and caregiver Yolanda Thomas-Johnson (Sharon), a special cousin and caregiver Betty Pierce, God-son Jaden Fuller and best friend Mrs. Mary Means.  She was predeceased by her husband, Saul Holland Sr, siblings, Willie and AJ Patterson, sister; Betty Seay, daughter; Mary Thomas, two granddaughters; Sheila and LaToya Thomas and one grandson Bernard Thomas.  She will be sadly, missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends.  Ella brought joy, laughter, and love into the lives of many. Her spirit will continue to shine brightly in all who knew her. Visitation will be held on Thursday August 7, 2025, from 10am to 11am at Joseph J. Darrow Sr. Funeral Home, Inc. 39 So.
