Emma was born on March 11, 1929 in Pine Plaines, NY to Walter and Charlotte Johnson.  She was the second oldest of four girls. She lived most of her life in Poughkeepsie NY.  She retired with 38 years services with the New York State Hudson River Psychiatric Center as a Nurse Aide. She married the love of her life Joseph "Sonny" Soares and from their marriage they raised five children. They were married for 59 loving years.  Emma and Joe relocated to Woodlawn, MD and lived out the rest of their lives. Emma was called home to be with the lord on November 25, 2014.  She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. Emma leaves to cherish her memory (sister) Anna Mae Johnson, (daughters) Antoinette, Teresa and Wanda, (son) Donald, a host of grand and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousin and friends.
