Gartley MacMullen, 74 of Melbourne, Florida, and formally of Wappinger's Falls, NY passed away on October 7, 2017 at Vassar Brother's Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, NY with his loving family by his side. Gartley was born on October 19, 1942 in Poughkeepsie, NY to the late Donald MacMullen and Iona Lamson. He was a graduate of the Wappinger's Central School District, was employed as an Operating Engineer with the Teamster's Union, owned and operated Gartley's Tool and Dye in Tannersville, NY and Keat's in Manhattan, NY. He was married to Lin Lanyard who predeceased him in 2007.
Gart was an avid sports fan. He especially loved watching the NY Yankees, but most importantly he loved his family, Gart will be remembered for his great sense of humor and his many innumerable stories he told.
Gart is survived by his long time companion and best friend Margaret Purhamus, who survives at home, sisters; Devon(Roger) Foley of Wappinger's Falls, NY; Mareve(Jim) VanVoorhis of Highland, NY; and brother Jim(Cathy) Hughes of Poughkeepsie, NY; nieces and nephews; Glen(Crystal), Rob(Leslie), Lauren(Chris), John, Nicole, Cathy, James, Meghan(John), Ryan, Jimmy(Laura), Matthew and Becky. Also to cherish his memory is Paige(Mike), Anthony, Heather, Abby, Bill (Mary), Avery, Ethan, Stephen, Leah and Jameson along with many other great nieces, nephews, cousins and endless friends.
The family wishes to extend a BIG thank you to all the medical providers who cared for Gart over the years.
Per his wishes cremation has taken place. There will be no calling hours and a memorial service will take place at a later date at the convenience of the family.
