George Donald Williamson, 92, beloved son, husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully at home on Friday, September 26, 2014. Donald was born on March 18, 1922 in Mount Vernon, NY, the pride and joy of his parents, the late Rev. George D. Williamson, Sr. and Isabella (Willcox) Williamson, their only child. Donald, as he was known to family and friends, spent most of his childhood in Dutchess County, his father was pastor at the Netherwood Baptist Church and later at the Dover Plains Baptist Church for many years. Donald graduated from Dover Plains High School, class of 1939. He enlisted in the Navy shortly after the attack on Pearl Harbor and served until 1945. He served overseas in England and France during WWII, and was at Omaha Beach on D-Day, aboard LST-310. While on leave he married Evelyn M. Hoag on July 12, 1942. After the war he worked in Poughkeepsie at Schatz Bearing and DeLaval Co. In 1947 they moved to Pleasant Valley where he worked at the Valley Ford Garage as a mechanic from 1945 through 1957, and then at IBM Poughkeepsie as a Machine Maintenance Technician until his retirement in 1981.

He is survived by his 3 children Donna Pike and her husband, Charles, Earlton, NY, Dale Williamson and his wife, Rose, Princeton, WV, and Bonnie Gutierrez and her husband, Slo'w, Santa Maria, CA; 6 grandchildren, Dean Pike (NC), Glenn Pike (NC), Jennifer Demarest (CA), Heather Lucas (NY), Todd Williamson (WV) and Marion Gutierrez (CA) and 9 great-grandchildren, Cheyenne, Amanda, Katherine, Grace, Annabelle, 'Topher, Alilkoy, Lincoln, and Chechihoh.

Donald was a man of high integrity and principle who choose to teach by example. He worked tirelessly and unselfishly caring for his parents, wives, and children. It is difficult to summarize his impact on our lives, he will be dearly missed by all. There wasn't anything that Dad couldn't make or fix.

We are forever grateful to his caregivers, Val, Orlando, Fran, Tina and Jane. Their loving care and concern brought us much peace in the past few years, knowing our father was in their capable, loving hands.
