James Raymond Carlon of Poughkeepsie, NY was born December 31, 1930 to the late Francis Carlon and Frances Dunn. He graduated Poughkeepsie High School in 1949 and attended Seton Hall University and Sienna College. He joined the Army in 1951 and was honorably discharged February 11, 1954. He then worked as a Sheet Metal Worker for over 30 years. He married Mary Jo Degroat in St. Anns Nyack, NY on April 21, 1956, who survives at home. He was an avid trumpet player with his brother Frank. They had their own band called The Gentleman Five. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

James is survived by six children; James J. Carlon of Poughkeepsie, Edward R. Carlon of Yonkers, Christopher (Marie) Carlon of Red Hook, Eileen (Edward) Bentzlin of Loudon, NH, Ellen (Brian) Edwards of Rhinebeck and Brian Carlon and Rebecca Ostrander of Poughkeepsie, eleven grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by a son; Daniel Carlon; a brother Frank Carlon and a sister-in-law; Ruth Carlon.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10am, Monday, March 12, 2018 at St. Mary's Church, 231 Church St, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601. A burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, Hyde Park.
