Jeanette Carol Hunt-Bentley transitioned peacefully into eternity on August 3, 2018. Popularly known by her middle name, Carol was born September 15, 1947 to James Edward and Leatrice Ernestine Hunt. She grew up in the Hudson Valley area and attended public schools in Albany and Beacon, NY. Carol graduated from the Cosmetology School of Newburgh, NY with a beautician license then established Carol's Beauty Salon. A beautiful, tall, statuesque woman, Carol was a fashionista who loved shopping and fine couture. This passion segued her into professional print and runway modeling for Up-To-Date department store.
She loved horticulture and was known to have a "green thumb". She was creative, loved arts and crafts and would make items to give away. Carol accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior the Summer of 2010. She loved singing "Wonderful, God is so Wonderful" which was sung by her bedside as she transitioned. Carol was loving and will be remembered by her family as being friendly and having a great sense of humor.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving son, Truk Bentley (Kelli), four sweet grandchildren, Austin, Gage, Briana and Kendra; five brothers, James Hunt, Jr., Charles Hunt, Gregory Hunt, John Hunt and Dwight Hunt, one sister, Verdele Rudolph, a foster sister, Regina Lee and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her loving parents Bishop James and First Lady Leatrice Hunt.
A Funeral Service will be Saturday, August 11, 2018, 11:00 am , 91 Hooker Ave. , Poughkeepsie . Arrangements are under the direction of Joseph J. Darrow Sr. Funeral Home, 39 South Hamilton Street, Poughkeepsie NY 12601 ( 845 452-1840 ). Memorial donations can be made to the James & Leatrice Hunt Community Empowerment Center with checks made payable to Beth-El COGIC.
