February 26, 1969 – June 11, 2025
John M. Flowers Jr., born on February 26, 1969, in the City of Poughkeepsie, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 56. A graduate of Poughkeepsie High School, John was the beloved son of community advocate John M. Flowers Sr. and Glenda M. Flowers of Poughkeepsie. He is survived by his loving son, Justin D. Flowers of Texas; his mother, Glenda M. Flowers; and his siblings: Yvonne Flowers, Alicia Flowers, and Frank Flowers of Poughkeepsie; Sheree Flowers-Preston (Levi) of Connecticut; Lashonda Flowers of Pine Bush; and Shatia Flowers-Valerio (Jerry) of Harriman. He is also survived by his sister-cousin Crystal Hatch (Edward) of Georgia, brother-cousin Dennis Slade (Victoria) of Florida and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will cherish his memory. John was predeceased by his father, John M. Flowers Sr., and his sister, Larissa Flowers McKinnon. John was one of Jehovah's Witnesses and had a deep love for sharing the message of God's Kingdom. He found joy in meeting new people and was passionate about Special Metropolitan Witnessing in New York City. His love for travel and the open road led him to a fulfilling career with Leprechaun Lines Charter Bus Company. Known for his reliability and pleasant demeanor, John took great pride in ensuring his passengers enjoyed their journeys. He was well-liked and respected by fellow drivers and dispatchers alike. John would put a smile on your face and laughter in your heart in his own unique way. He had a deep love for Jazz and was often the life of the party, lighting up the dance floor with his unforgettable moves—from the robot to the electric slide—always keeping the dance floor grooving. His favorite saying, "This is how you do it," was delivered with a signature exaggerated style that left everyone laughing. John's sense of style was unmatched—his colorful suit ties often sparked conversation and admiration. His interest in health and wellness, particularly his love of home remedies, was well known. You could not say you knew John without knowing the importance of "Garlic". John lived his life with kindness, optimism, and always smiling. Not many could say they ever saw a frown on John's face. John always looked for the good in others and left a lasting impression on everyone he met. His warm heart, joyful spirit, and generous nature will be deeply missed and never forgotten. His memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
