Joseph Nathan Stephens departed this life on November 3, 2019, at the age of 77. Joseph Nathan Stephens was born November 23, 1942, to the late Steven Jones and Sally Mae Stephens in Sylvester Georgia. After the passing of his mother Joseph moved to Poughkeepsie NY with his uncle and aunt the late Owen and Ella Stevens, as he was raised with their children as a brother. While living in Poughkeepsie Joseph was converted at an early age, he understood the gospel of Jesus Christ and accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. Joseph became a member of Mt. Olive F. B. H. Church under the leadership of Pastor Magdalene Patterson.

Joseph was a loving and devoted member of the church where he worked in the church doing what was asked of him to do. Joseph expressed great love for his family especially the children of the family. Joseph was a protector of the children and always made sure they were safe. He was a special uncle to his nieces and nephews.

Joseph leaves to cherish his memory his brother C.J. Jones (Tifton GA), his first cousins who he grew up with Pastor Magdalene Patterson, Alice Williams, Gladys Carter, Annie Jackson, and Vicky Watkins. Joseph is predeceased by his sisters may Lizzie Jones, Queen Esther Davis, Fannie Bell Stevens, and brothers Willie B Hart and James Jones all of Georgia. Joseph is also predeceased by his first cousins whom he grew up with Isaac Stephens, Jacob Stephens, Effie Sparrow, Mayola Walker, and Betty Wilson. Joseph will always be remembered as a kindhearted loving person who enjoyed life and being around his family.

Visitation is Wednesday, November 6, 2019, 10-11AM at Joseph J. Darrow Sr. Funeral Home Inc. 39 So Hamilton St. Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 845-452-1840.
