On the night of July 13, 2022, Karen Ann Hinton slipped from early sorrow and entered into eternal rest at home peacefully. Karen was born March 24, 1961 to the late Anna Mae Twyman Johnson and Horace Edward Hinton. She was one of twelve children. She received education in the Poughkeepsie City School District. Karen worked in many places during her life, and before her illness Karen worked as a recess monitor at Morse Young Child Magnet Elementary School in Poughkeepsie, NY. To know Karen was to have unconditional understanding like no other. Karen was a devoted mother; grandmother aunt, sister to all and a giving person always ready to help someone or anyone in need. In addition to raising her own children, Karen frosted many other children. She adored her family and friends and loved spending time with her grandchildren. One thing about Karen she always was willing to give free advice weather you asked for IT or NOT! Karen had a bright and friendly personality, people gravitated towards her and Let's not forget if you needed a ride no matter what and where Karen was there. Karen leaves to celebrate her life seven children Basheeba Johnson (Hodayah Johnson) of Poughkeepsie, NY Tiron King (Courtney Lyons-King) of Cold Spring NY; Shemaiah King; Shakeesha Gibson (Jamell Gibson); of Albany, NY; Basheem Bennett of Malone NY; and Trayshaun and Alexcia Hinton of Poughkeepsie, NY. 16 grandchildren 1 great-grand and 6 God children. Karen also leaves behind five sisters Connie Turner, Regina Watt, of Hype Park, NY; Carol Hinton of New Paltz, NY; Ellen Miller (Kevin) of Poughkeepsie, NY; Doreen Bun of Poughkeepsie, NY; One Brother Ira Hinton of Beacon, NY; three sisters-In-laws Sandra and Ondina and Wanda and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.

In addition to her parents, Karen was predeceased by six brothers Glenn, Brion, Micheal, Terry, Horace Jr. and Steven Hinton Karen will be missed not just by her family but her Delafield family as well. No more yelling; STOP! WHAT YOU DOING! GET OVER HERE! AND GO TELL YOUR MOTHER, etc.. Visitation is Wednesday, July 27, 2022 10-11AM with a celebration of life beginning at 11AM at Joseph J. Darrow Sr. Funeral Home Inc. 39 So Hamilton St Poughkeepsie, NY 12601. Burial to follow in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
