Minister Marvin Lyons, 80 of Poughkeepsie, NY passed away on March 24, 2020 at Care One HUMC Pascack Valley after a long illness.  He was born on February 12, 1940 in Whitakers, NC to the late James Lyons and Etta Lee "Tot" Garrett. He grew up in the Bricks community until relocating to New York. He worked for a contracting company for IBM in Poughkeepsie, NY retiring in 1995.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and Church family.  He was a member of the New Salvation and Praise Deliverance Church.  He loved reading the Bible and sharing the Word of the Lord.

Survivors include his children; Etta Lyons Warren (Marvin), Loretta Hall (Byron Sr.), grandchildren; James Akeem Lyons, Shabrina Lyons, Unique Hall, Byron Hall Jr., Wayne Hall and Nicole Hall, great grandchildren; Michael Sheldon Jr., Zionah Heavenly IS-RAEL Lyons, siblings; George Garrett (Rocky Mt. NC), Geneva Lyons (Poughkeepsie, NY), and a host of other siblings; a nephew; Lloyd Lee Lines Jr., nieces; Ramona Lines, Jakki Bullock, Brenda Pinckey, and a host of other nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother; Lloyd Lee Lines Sr., a sister; Josephine Lyons, two sons; James Wade Lyons and Herbert Spratley, first cousins; Jimmy Johnson (Rock), Hardy Parker Sr.(Hardlee) and other siblings, grandparents; Etta Hunter Garrett and Walter Garrett, Ida Webb Lyons and Jimmy Lyons.
