Olive "Ollie" Ruth Theresa VanWagner Gorr, 86, of Staatsburg, NY went home to meet her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on January 21, 2018 at The Baptist Home at Brookmeade surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Born on June 19, 1931 in Middletown, NY she was the daughter of the late Edward VanWagner and Ruby Ann Munn.
On April 8, 1950 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Middletown, NY she married Gerard Robert Gorr, who predeceased her in October of 1994 . Together they lived in Goshen, NY and later moved to Poughkeepsie, NY. There, she enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening and making clothes for her children. Other interests included knitting, hiking, bicycling, bowling and dancing. She learned ballet, tap and ballroom dancing. She was a CCD teacher and Eucharist Minister at Regina Coeli Church in Hyde Park, NY and St. Stanislaus in Pleasant Valley. She was a member of the Legion of Mary and Our Lady Star of the Sea Church in Little River, SC., a Girl Scout leader for 15 years, an AARP Employment Counselor for Dutchess County for 7 Years as well as the secretary for AARP Chapter #5270 in Little River and North Myrtle Beach, SC for 5 years.
Ollie was a Real Estate Broker since 1957. She owned and operated Ollie R. Gorr Reality, she was an appraiser, national exchange broker and she also owned EVW Corp. She was president for the 7 Counties of Commercial Brokers for 2 years,
Ollie is survived by her children; Mary Treadwell, Lori Gorr, Cindy Knapp, Darlene Johnson and Collette Misa; grandchildren Charity Allen, Leanne Starzyk, Lindsay Ruger and Rachael Knapp; 4 great grandsons and 5 great granddaughters. Besides her parents and husband she was predeceased by her son Clyde Gerard Gorr in 1999, who was a US Marine and served in the Vietnam War.
