Ray P. Thomison entered eternal life on July 25, 2026, peacefully on a bright, sunny afternoon surrounded by his loving family throughout the transition. Ray was born on July 6, 1948, in Shelbyville, Tennessee to his late parents Rev. Arzo Ezel and Mabel Virginia “Gant” Thomison. Ray lived hs life on his terms, he was a remarkable musician, playing the bass guitar and toured in a band in his early years. He was a truck driver, moving specialist, and an auto-mechanic. Ray married Deborah Thomison and was blessed with three children. In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his dear friend Earline Majors, three brothers: Arzo “JR” Ezel Jr., Clarence and Leroy Thomison; Brother-in-law’s Sam Rockwell and Pete Harvey. Ray is survived by ex-wife and dear friend Deborah Thomison, children: Lisa L. Johnson, Reah Y. Foxx, Rasheem J. Thomison, and Kamilah “Kai” Murphy; Grandchildren: Kevin Jamar Johnson, Eric Whitaker, Ferris Charise Thomas, TeReah Foxx, Christopher Foxx, Rashea Thomison, Justine and Jamar Thomison, Aliya and Kayla Mitchell, six great-grandchildren; Sisters: Emma Jean Rockwell, Julia Faye Randolph, Dorothy Dot Harvey and Brother: Sam Thomison; Cousins: Sara Faircloth and Clara Jackson and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. His memory will live on in our hearts forever. A memorial gathering will be held for 1 hour on Thursday August 20, 2026, from 12 noon to 1pm at the Joseph J. Darrow Sr. Funeral Home, Inc. 39 So.
