Richard “Rich” James Marone, a lifelong resident of Poughkeepsie, New York, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2026, at the age of 85. Born in Poughkeepsie on May 28, 1940, Rich grew up surrounded by family, community, and a deep love for the Hudson Valley he called home. He was the son of the late Stephen and Rita Marone and brother to the late Stephen Marone Jr. Rich is survived by his loving family: his sister, Carol McRitchie; brothers Robert (“Bob”) Marone, Thomas Marone, and Gary Marone; his devoted son, Cory Marone, and daughter in law, Bonnie; his cherished grandson, Corrado Marone; and his beloved life companion, Debra LeRoy. Each of them carries forward the warmth, humor, and kindness that were hallmarks of Richard’s life. Rich enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, including working in his garden, collecting model trains, taking quiet fishing trips, and sharing food times with family and friends. A loyal New York sports fan, he took pride in cheering for his favorite teams, especially the Mets, Rangers, and Giants. He also loved traveling with Debra, discovering new places and memories together. Those who knew Rich will remember him as a gentle soul with a quiet demeanor and a kind heart. He was steady, thoughtful, and always willing to lend a hand when someone needed it. His presence brought calm and comfort to those around him, and his quiet strength will be deeply missed.
