Rod Alexander Lane, 70, of Port Ewen, NY passed away peacefully on June 17, 2026, at the Select Specialty Hospital in Rochelle Park, NJ. Born in Poughkeepsie, NY on June 2, 1956, he was the son of the late Norman Lane and Nancy Joan Letendre. A Highschool graduate, Rod was employed by RJM Movers and Haulers retiring after 15 years in June of 2010. Rod was a devout Catholic and attended services/mass at Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Port Ewen, NY. Rod loved baseball and received a letter officially inviting him to try out for the NY Yankees in 1978. In 1996 he was inducted into the Dutchess County Baseball Hall of Fame. Rod was a “Jack of all trades” type of guy. He was always there to serve and sacrifice. Mom and you are together again. We will always miss you Rod, but your suffering is over. God Bless! Rod leaves behind his brothers Billy and Mark Simmons, sisters Charlotte, Michelle and Maria McGill; daughters Nancy Baker, Franny, and Mary; son Jamie Houghtaling; grandson Pauly and great-grandson Roman on Dorothy's side of the family and a host of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his girlfriend of 50 years Dorothy Houghtaling, and her son Raymond Houghtaling. Graveside services will be held on Thursday July 2, 2026 at 12:00 noon, Section 21 at St. Peters Cemetery on Salt Point Turnpike in Poughkeepsie. All are Welcome.
