Edward Mima Sr.

Ronald Edward Mima Sr. was born on July 1, 1955, in Rhinebeck, New York, to the late Everett Sr. and Olive Mima. He departed this life peacefully on his 70th birthday. Ronald also known to family and friends as Ron, Ronnie or Pops served proudly in the United States Marine Corps. He later provided years of service at St. Francis Hospital, where he was known for his warmth and dedication before retiring in 2010. He began to date Leonora, on June 30, 2002, and they were united in marriage on June 19, 2009. Ronald loved sports, especially football and basketball—and was a lifelong New York Giants fan. He enjoyed cooking, singing, dancing, and spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He is survived by his beloved wife, Leonora "Candy" Derello-Mima, and his children: Talasia Mima, Ronnette Lawrence (AL), Litisha Mima (NC), and Ronald Mima Jr. Also, cherishing his memory are his stepchildren: Carlisha Derello, Chatana Derello(VA), Ronnisha White, Ronica White, Rondisha Derello(GA), Ronkeisha Derello, Roaul White lll, Chevez Derello, Realistic Derello, Leonard Derello, and Alex Kinloch. Ronald also leaves behind his sisters Linda and Louise, his brothers Dale, David, and Michael. Ronald leaves behind a host grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Everett Mima Jr., his favorite Aunt Eleanor, and ex-wife Sheila Heath. Ronald's big heart, sense of humor, and loving spirit will be forever missed by all who knew him. Visitation will be held on Thursday July 10, 2025, from 10am to 11am at the Beulah Baptist Church, 92 Catharine Street Poughkeepsie, NY 12601. A celebration of life begins at 11am with burial to follow at Union Cemetery in Hyde Park. Arrangements have been entrusted to Joeph J. Darrow Sr. Funeral Home, Inc. 39 So.
