ROSE BELLAMY, lovingly known as Maria, transitioned from this life surrounded by family on February 23,2026 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, NY. Maria believed and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was Baptized at Beulah Baptist Church in Poughkeepsie, NY. She moved to Schenectady where she served under the leadership of Reverend Vincent E. Teague of New Bethel COGIC. Rose Maria was born February 19, 1956, to the late Hattie Blackwood and Lemuel Bellamy in Poughkeepsie, NY. She attended Poughkeepsie Schools where she graduated in the class of 1976. She worked at Hudson River Psychiatric Center (Poughkeepsie, NY) in Food Service Department for several years, Western Printing Publishing Co. (Poughkeepsie, NY) and Vocational Rehabilitation (Schenectady, NY) before she became ill. Rose Maria was the bond in our family. She has blessed us in many ways. She was known as the finest girl in Smith Street Projects. Her language of Love was Forgiveness. She always carried a message of hope. She loved and treasured family while inspiring us to love one another. Maria loved family and the representation thereof. She was especially fond of her nieces and nephews. Her greatest Love was for Christ Jesus. The joy of the Lord was her strength. Her perseverance and strength allowed us to see the goodness of the Lord. We were blessed to have her with us for 70 years. A life filled with joy: Maria lived her life and embraced life through the things she loved Dancing and singing brought her pure happiness. Family gatherings and cookouts where she was often the heart of laughter. Fashion and personal style, always stepping out with confidence. Bingo nights where she found fun, community and friendly competition. Maria loved reading and learning from the Bible and Gospel Music!!! It was always uplifting to her. Her kindness was felt by everyone who crossed her path. She gave love easily, forgave freely and carried a gentle strength rooted deeply in her faith. Her religious devotion shaped her life, guiding her with compassion, humility and grace. Rose Maria now joins her beloved family members who preceded her in passing: Parents, Hattie Blackwood and Lemuel Bellamy Grandparents, Emma Taylor and George Daniels, uncles, aunts, (2) nephews Lloyd and Derrell Johnson. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, love, unwavering faith and Cherished memories held by siblings: William Daniels Sr. Anthony Bellamy, Angela Bellamy, Leroy Bellamy, Loren Bellamy, Edith Bellamy and Carlisa Keitt will remain. A host of nieces, nephews’ cousins and (3) special friends Carla Cummings (ATL) and Marie Huff (CA) Barbara Bush (MA)who will forever cherish her memory with laughter and the love she poured into each of them. Her family will honor her by carrying forward the joy, generosity, and faith she embodied every day. Her memory is a reminder to savor the simple moments, good music, a warm hug and a burst of laughter. Visitation will be held on Monday March 9, 2026 from 10am to 11am at the Joseph J.
