Obituary

Sandra (Dibble) Saddlemire passed away peacefully on April 27, 2025. She was the daughter of Herman B. and Marion B. Dibble (both deceased) and was born a true fighter at just 2 lbs 3 oz on July 1, 1936. She married Richard Francis Saddlemire (deceased) and went on to have six children, Nancy Roebke, David Saddlemire, June Pletzer, Arlene Dick, William Saddlemire and Diana Stewart.  She was the proud grandmother of fourteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.  Originally from Binghamton, NY, she was a Navy wife for fourteen years and then settled in the Hudson Valley in 1970.  She loved the Lord intensely and grew up singing and playing the piano to worship Him, which she continued throughout her life. She often said that she enjoyed talking to God in her garden, and if you ever couldn't find her, that is where she would be. She truly loved the beauty of nature and digging in the dirt.  Growing beautiful flowers was her favorite pastime. A true animal lover, as well, our home often had more animals than people.  As she now rejoices in her eternal home, we mourn our loss, but we are grateful that she is not suffering and is dancing in the beautiful gardens in Heaven.  To continue her legacy of helping her neighbors and the furry friends who add so much joy to our lives, the family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to https://www.hvars.org/ or https://careofdc.org/  Arrangements have been entrusted to Joseph J. Darrow Sr. Funeral Home, Inc.  39 So. Hamilton Street, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601. (845)452-1840.  To send online condolences please visit our website at www.darrowfuneralhome.org
