Sophia Caroline Mezynski, a long-time resident of Marlboro, passed into eternal rest on April 28 ^th , 2018, at the age of 84. The daughter of Bertha (Schmidt) and Joseph Niemkiewicz, she was born on May 15 ^th , 1933, in Old Forge, PA.  After graduating from Scranton High School, Sophia settled in Marlboro to raise her family.

She is survived by her sons John (Elizabeth) Mezynski of Marlboro and David (Hermione) Mezynski of North Carolina, and daughter Stephanie (John) Barley of Milton; grandchildren Heather, John, and Josef Mezynski & David, Richard, and Ellen Barley, as well as her 4 sisters and 13 nieces and nephews.

Sophia was a devoted homemaker and enjoyed cooking, gardening, and crafting. She loved her cat and dog and her many friends over the years. Her greatest passions were spending time with her grandchildren, listening to classical music, and enjoying all of the fine arts. She especially loved oil painting. Sophia was very proud of her Polish heritage.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to your local animal shelter.
