Assunta Susan Rider, 97, of Highland NY, passed away on May 17, 2016 at the Hudson Valley Rehabilitation and Extended Care Center in Highland, NY.  Susan was a resident of Hudson Valley since November 2010.   Susan was born on August 15, 1918 to William Minnetto and Antoinette Longo.  She was educated from St. Mary's Catholic School in Wappingers Falls, NY.  Susan Married Oliver Rider on April 7, 1940 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Poughkeepsie, NY.  He predeceased her on August 3, 1986.  Susan was a seamstress at various garment factories in Poughkeepsie, Wappingers Falls and Beacon, NY.  She was proud to be a double needle machine operator.

Survivors include her sons,  John (Carol) of Hyde Park, NY and Joe (Patricia) of Highland, NY; her sister Margaret "Margie" Rizzi of Highland, NY; grandchildren, Brian, Kevin Maureen, Samantha, Karen, Darren, Todd and Lisa; great -grandchildren, Jamie, Rachel, Brian, Matthew, Taylor, Maya and Nathan.  She is also survived by great-great grandchildren, Cecelia and Logan; and many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her parents, husband, and siblings, Mary Chickery, Anna Balga, Grace Massell, William, Frank and Joseph Minnetto.

The Rider family would like to thank all the wonderful nurses and aides at Hudson Valley for their care and compassion towards Susan in various activities both inside and outside Hudson Valley, the reception staff for their friendliness towards Susan and family members, the office staff for their assistance whenever it was needed (Thanks for coming in), and so many others at Hudson Valley.

The Rider family also would like to thank the family members and friends who came to visit Susan while she was a resident at Hudson Valley.

There is no calling hours or funeral, in keeping with Susan's wishes cremation has taken place and burial will be at the convenience of the family.  Inurnment will be at the Mausoleum at St. Peters Cemetery, Poughkeepsie, NY.
