Evangelist Thelma Usher went home to be with the Lord on October 4, 2024. She passed away peaceably at the Hudson Valley Hospice House at the age of 91 years old. She was born on July 26, 1933, in Wallace, North Carolina. Thelma, her husband, Charlie, and three daughters, Rosetta, Charlene, and Polly moved to Highland, New York in the late 1950's. They later settled in Poughkeepsie, New York, where a son, Aaron, was born. Thelma is predeceased by her husband, Charlie and two daughters, Rosetta, and Polly a sister, Bernice, and a brother, Raphael Robinson. She is survived by Charlene (Wesley) and Aaron, who reside in Poughkeepsie. Thelma worked for many years in the City of Poughkeepsie School District as a Teacher's Assistant. She was loved by the students and her fellow employees for her caring kind and loving personality. She also hosted a program on cablevision, during which she invited guests to come on and discuss ways to help improve the community, among other subjects. Thelma was well known in Poughkeepsie for her tireless work to help improve the quality of life of families. She was honored with numerous awards for her work. In addition to her work in the community, she also led the youth choir in her beloved Ebenezer Baptist Church. She cherished serving as an Evangelist, helping families become members of the church and accepting Jesus Christ as their Savoir.  Thelma is survived by a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family members. She will be missed.  Visitation will be held on Saturday October 12, 2024, from 10am to 11am at The Ebenezer Baptist Church, 15 Smith Street Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 with going home services to begin at 11am.  Entombment will be private and at the convenience of the family.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Joseph J.
