Vernell Clyde McClinton, 72 entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. He was born August 27, 1942 in Raleigh NC to Mary Lee Smith and Will McClinton.

He was educated in the Poughkeepsie School System.  Vernell proudly served in the United States Air Force (Military Police) for 4 years, where he continued his educational studies. He was employed at Central Hudson Gas & Electric for over 40 years as a System Operator, retiring in 1992. He was a member of the Exempt Firemen's Association and attended Smith Metropolitan AME Zion Church.

Vernell was an avid fisherman, truly loved football, OTB and was a "candy man".

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Janice. His son Anthony Lawrence of Poughkeepsie, daughter Yvette Williams (Chris) of Labella, Florida, son Walee Bomani (Erica) of Westbury NY, son Victor Nelson and daughter Vernice McClinton of Poughkeepsie NY. Stepson Charles Smack (Christine) and his sister, Sonja McClinton of Highland NY. Twenty-five grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren.

He was pre-deceased by his parents, Will & Mary, daughter Urania Nelson, sons Vernell (Fuzzy) McClinton and David Lawrence; brothers Lee and Esau; and his sister Cenora Bethea.
