Wallace "Wally" Decker, a U.S. Navy Veteran and resident of Poughkeepsie and Hollywood, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2017. Born on August 25, 1933, he was the only child of Clyde and Caroline (Blanchard) Decker. He was a graduate of Arlington high school, and received an Associate's degree from Westchester Community College. Employed briefly at IBM in Poughkeepsie, he transitioned to NY State Department of Transportation as a Civil Engineer and continued his career at NY State Bridge Authority until his retirement in 1988. He continued working as a consultant on several engineering projects and found great joy in the industry and assisting others. Wally was on several condominiums boards in New York and Florida while investing in several real estate ventures. He served on the board of the Church of Messiah in Rhinebeck, NY and loved volunteering each year for the Mad Dash run. Along with his favorite team; the NY Giants, he was an avid golfer, skier and enjoyed his yearly trek with close friends to Saratoga race track. He was a great fan of traveling and spending quality time with family. A life well lived and will be missed by everyone.
He married Mary Ann Fischbach of Poughkeepsie in 1956 and had 3 children, Cindy Decker Censorio, Carrie Decker of Riverside, Rhode Island and Clyde Decker of Highland, New York. His oldest daughter, Cindy Decker Censorio, who predeceased him on May 4, 2000, was married to David Peter Censorio and had a son, Michael Nelson Decker Censorio of Mansfield, MA. Wally married Joanne Faulkner in 1979 and had a daughter, Jana Ruth Decker of Poestenkill, New York. Survived by 4 grandsons, Michael Nelson Decker Censorio, Colin Clyde Decker, Sebastian Brown and Thomas Walsh.
