Walter E. Simpson Jr., 58 of Poughkeepsie, NY was called home to Glory on October 21, 2014.  Born in Bronx, NY on April 17, 1956, he was the son of Walter Sr. and Dorothy Simpson.  Walter served in the U.S. Army from 1974-1976.   He then moved to Poughkeepsie, NY and took interest in computers and furthered his education attending Devry University and received a degree where he then obtained a job at IBM.

Walter met Priscilla U. Johnson in 1979, with that union they were blessed with three lovely children.  He was a devoted and loving father and was sure his family came first.  After so many years of working at IBM, he attended the academy in Albany, NY, for corrections.  He graduated in 1996 as a Correctional Officer.   Walter was an ordained minister and truly dedicated to minister and council many people.  In recent years, his health declined yet through his faith in Christ he never gave up.  He continued to minister and council people in need.

Walter is survived by his devoted children, Dorothy Simpson, Joyce Simpson and Walter E. Simpson III; his sister Joyce Milan, brother in law Steve Walker, his four grandchildren; Dakel Elliott, Jada Washington, Levi Washington and Laila Simpson; niece and nephew Pamela and Ronnie Roddy; great niece and nephew Rashanda and Ronnie Roddy Jr., a host of cousins, family and friends who was loved by them all.

Visitation will be held on Saturday November 1, 2014 from 10am to 11am at the Joseph J. Darrow Sr. Funeral Home, 39 So. Hamilton St. Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 (845)452-1840.  Going home services will begin at 11am with Pastor Vick Torres officiating.  Burial to follow at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
