Alfred Herdon

Alfred Herdon, 82 of Poughkeepsie, NY passed away on May 24, 2014 at the Lutheran Care Center in Poughkeepsie. Born in White Plains NY on August 14, 1931 he was the son of Margaret E. West. He graduated Poughkeepsie High School, Class of 1948. Alfred worked for the United States Postal Service with 20 Years of service retiring in 1994. In 1973 he married Kathleen F. Herdon who predeceased him. Alfred served proudly in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict earning several medals. Alfred was an avid bowler and sports fan. Alfred leaves to cherish his memory, his sons James Wright of Brooklyn NY; Charles Wright of Maryland; daughter Michelle Jones of NJ; grandchildren James Ramos of Poughkeepsie, Erik Jones and Troy Jones of NJ; and Royteisha Wright of Poughkeepsie; sister Shirley Alston of Pleasant Valley and brother Curtis Johnson (Ella) of Poughkeepsie; close family friend Patricia Galimore and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents and wife, Alfred was predeceased by his son Roy wright and his sister Lamia "Betty" West and maternal Grandmother Julia Herdon. Visitation will be held on Friday May 30, 2014 from 10am to 11am at the Joseph J. Darrow Sr. Funeral Home, 39 So. Hamilton St. Poughkeepsie, NY 12601. (845)452-1840.
