Christopher Kearse

  Christopher George Tyrone Kearse was born on April 19th, 1983 in Brooklyn, New York. He departed from this life on Tuesday, May 11th, 2021 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, New York.  Chris attended high school at East New York Transit Tech High School in Brooklyn, NY; graduating in 2002. Chris graduated from the State University of New York College at New Paltz in 2006 with a Bachelors degree in Black Studies. Chris was heavily active at New Paltz with a special interest in Voices of Unity Gospel Choir, NAACP, and Black Solidarity Day. Chris worked for the City of Poughkeepsie School District where he was employed as a Micro Computer/Network Specialist. Chris was known by all of his friends in the district as the “Tech Guy.” Chris was also employed as a computer and technology consultant for Rural and Migrant Ministries Inc. In addition to Chris’ passion for computers and technology, he also loved Marvel, The Dallas Cowboys, and had a special affection for fried chicken. Chris was excited to start a life with Lekisha where they welcomed their first daughter Christiana in 2018 and their second daughter Lakiya in 2021. He never stopped planning adventures they could all experience together as a family.  In addition to Lekisha, Christiana, and Lakiya, Chris is survived by his mother, Georgette Townsend; his siblings Milton Simon, Crystal Smith, Eric Smith and Erica Smith; grandmother, Dorothy Townsend all of Brooklyn, NY; and his Godmother Shannon Holt of Fredericksburg, VA; along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends that he had a special love for. Chris is predeceased by his grandfather George Townsend. Visitation will take place Thursday, May 20, 2021 from 5pm-7pm at Joseph J Darrow Sr. Funeral Home Inc. on 39 South Hamilton Street Poughkeepsie, NY 12601. A private viewing and service will take place for the family on Friday, May 21, 2021 at Beth-El COGIC on 91 Hooker Avenue Poughkeepsie, NY at 10am.
