Gerald Foster

Gerald Foster, 74, of the Town of Poughkeepsie, passed away on March 8, 2021 at Vassar Brother’s Medical Center.

Visitation will be at 11:00AM on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Darrow Funeral Home in Poughkeepsie N.Y.  Funeral services will be held at 12:00PM on the same date and location with Bishop Harris Howell of Apostolic Worship Center from Bridgeport, Connecticut officiating.

Gerald, fondly referred to as, Gerry, was born on January 27, 1947 in Southfield, Saint Elizabeth on the south coast of Jamaica to Glen and Myrtle Foster. Gerry met the love of his life Sybil Woolcock in Southfield, and they were married on December 15, 1971 in Mandeville, Manchester, Jamaica. They were together for over fifty years and raised a beautiful family.

Gerry’s primary interest was his family and ensuring they all lived their lives to the fullest. He had a passion for music and dancing. He was a doting husband, dedicated father, loving grandfather, supporting brother and motivating uncle. He encouraged his children and grandchildren in their pursuits and passions. He worked as a Chemical Operator at BASF for twenty-one years, having worked in other engineering type positions with various companies since coming to the United States.

He is survived by his wife Sybil, Children: Karl and his wife Gilda, Stacey, Brianna, Michelle and her husband Patrick, Siblings: Phil and his wife Molly, Curl, Ronie, Rema and her husband Jerome and Grandchildren: Asacia, Tahraeah, Christian, Elizabeth and Dayna, as well as brothers and sisters-in-law: Ray, Marcia, Patricia, Sandra and her husband Sydney, Clare, Keith and his wife Milly, Hartley, Livingston, Barry, Pam, Jeane and Owen along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, parents in law, Brothers: Hernan and Renny, as well as Brothers-in-law: Lionel, Basil, Audley, and most recently Wayne.The family has set up a memorial fund, which can be found here:  https://gofund.me/da892d0e
