Hedwig (Hedy) Mader Parslow of Poughkeepsie, NY, passed away peacefully on the first day of spring, March 21, 2021.Hedwig was born May 12, 1928, the daughter of Lorenz and Elsa Mader, in Guenzburg, Germany. She attended business school in Ulm, Germany, before coming to America in June 1951. Hedy was proud to be an American citizen. Throughout her life in Poughkeepsie, she held many jobs, ranging from factory work to retail to home healthcare but spent much of her life as a housewife, which gave her much pleasure.
Hedy married Henry Parslow in Leeds, NY, on August 27, 1965. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing and knitting, and spending time with her family. She always had a smile on her face and was loved by all who knew her.
Survivors include her husband, Henry Parslow; two daughters, Melissa Parslow White and her husband Robb, both of Cape Coral, FL, and Lisa Faith Yearack and her husband David, both of Poughkeepsie, NY. Hedy is also survived by several grandchildren: Kasha Kosakowski and her husband Frank, James Simpson II and his wife Brittnie, Kimberley Simpson Cotton, Patrick Simpson, April Yearack and Erik Yearack, and four great grandchildren. She is also survived by four sisters still living in Germany, as well as several in-laws, nieces and nephews, both here in America and in Germany. Hedwig was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Bob Kuplins; and five brothers in Germany.
