Mother Helen Ruth Caine, 86, a lifelong resident of Poughkeepsie, NY went into eternal rest Tuesday, February 8th, 2022, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie, NY. Born December 22, 1935, in Gardiner, NY. She was the daughter of the late Louis Bevier and Daisy Mae Storts. She was a loving and dedicated mother and committed to her faith in Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior. Mother Helen attended several churches throughout Poughkeepsie, NY. She later dedicated herself to Bethel Church of Christ. She attended Gardiner school district in her early years. She worked for Vassar Brothers Hospital, Western Print, and IBM Marriott. In her senior years she attended Friends and Family Day program in Hyde Park, NY. At that program she did just that, made new friends and family. Mother Helen looked forward to going to church on Sunday’s. If she wasn't at church, she was home listening to the word of God on her on TV, accompanied by gospel music and praying aloud to her Lord and Savior. She loved to play dominoes with her sons (Poo & JuneBug) and a good old fashioned family game of spades and rummy. Mother Helen will be deeply missed by all those who were touched by her presence and blessed with all her tender hugs and kisses. Mother Helen is survived by Wilbert Johnson, unknown address; Victoria Storts of Syracuse, NY; Martha Heirs and companion Mr. Ewen; Sequamn Storts and wife Ashanti Storts of Poughkeepsie, NY. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Hattie Mae Johnson, and four sons, David (Alicia) Green; Stanley (JuneBug) Johnson; Richard W. (Virginia Renee) Bevier; Lynwood (Lauree) Johnson. Mother Helen has 40 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren. She has many nieces and nephews and countless friends and family. She has two God sons, Bishop Shamar Williams, and Jeremiah L. Jordan, three stepdaughters, Colleen Keane, and Michelle Richards, both of Newburgh, NY and Evadadney C. Jordan of Poughkeepsie, NY. She leaves to cherish a special nephew, Robbie Elting.
Visitation will be held on Friday February 18, 2022, 10-11am with homegoing service at 11am at Bethel Church of God and Christ, 91 Hooker Ave, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
