Obituary

James Pellegrino age 76 of Clinton Corners, NY passed away from cancer at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck NY on June 5, 2023. Jim was born and raised in Corona Queens NY by his parents Armand and Genevieve Pellegrino. In Queens he attended Saint Leo Elementary School and Newtown High School, graduating in 1964.  Jim served in the U.S. Army Corp, receiving an honorable discharge in 1968. He began his life-long membership in the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 28, a member for more than 50 years. Local 28 is part of the SMART Union (International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation Workers). In 2003 he retired to Clinton Corners where he and his wife, Christine Brousseau, whom he knew since the early 1990s and married in 2002 developed lasting friendships with their neighbors. He gave back his time, energy, and knowledge to the Clinton community by volunteering at the Town of Clinton Historical Society. He served on its Board of Trustees for 10 years, and was awarded the title of Emeritus, a true honor. A Society that is committed to restoring and maintaining its 1777 Creek Meeting House in the hamlet of Clinton Corners. Jim also served on the Board of Assessor Review (BAR) of Clinton township for 5 years. Jim was a loving husband to Christine, a devoted father to Anthony Pellegrino and his wife Danielle, stepdaughter Kaitlyn, and his adoring grandsons, Ryan, and Gavin. They survive him, as does his sister Anna Marie and her husband Ray Honan, his many Irish/Scottish and Italian cousins, nieces, nephews, as well as many other close relatives. He is predeceased by his younger brother John Pellegrino.

Jim was an avid fisherman, he loved to read, and do the NY Times crossword puzzles. He had a sharp memory, with a keen sense for detail in his story telling.  He was a NY Yankees and Mets baseball fan, and a NY Rangers hockey fan. He knew a lot about cars, both old and new. He grew up around the muscle cars of the 50s, 60s and 70s, and even once owned a 30’s Plymouth Sedan. In recent years he was teaching himself to read and speak the Italian language. He was a man of enormous talent, a very personable and caring person. He communicated well with all walks of life, human, animal, or plant. He will be sorely missed by many.
