Margaret Elaine Mizell

  Margaret Elaine Mizell, a long-time resident of Poughkeepsie peacefully entered heaven’s gate Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Vassar Brothers Hospital. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend. Margaret was born September 7, 1933 in Poughkeepsie, NY to Bessie M. Riley and the late William M. Riley Sr.

  Margaret graduated from Poughkeepsie High School and Dutchess Community College as a Registered Nurse. Her career started at Vassar Brothers Hospital, worked at Hudson River Psychiatric Center as a charge nurse and Crisis Residence where she retired. Margaret met and married the late Daniel Mizell in Poughkeepsie, NY on October 5, 1952. Her passion was singing, many years she sung in various local choirs, and sought after her beautiful solos. A faithful member of Ebenezer Baptist Church where she served on the Pastors aide ministry in Poughkeepsie, NY. Margaret loved cooking, baking, reading romance novels and her favorite past time was traveling.

  Survivors are her mother; Bessie M. Riley, a devoted son; Daniel Mizell and dedicated daughter in law; Judy, her beloved daughter; Elaine Mizell,her loving brother; William Riley, four grandchildren, six great-grands, one great- great grand, Audrey her adopted granddaughter, many nieces, nephews, cousins, close friends, and her devoted caregiver and friend; Carmen. She was predeceased by her brother; David Riley, two sisters; Jean M. Lassiter and Alberta Johnson. Visitation is Thursday, January 14, 2021 10-11AM at the Joseph J.
