Myrtle Victoria Duhaney

Myrtle Victoria Reid-Duhaney, 89 of Poughkeepsie, NY passed away on October 10, 2023, at Home, surrounded by her loving family.  Born on September 1, 1934, in Westmoreland, Jamaica W.I. She was the daughter of the late Benjamin Reid and Albertha Anderson. She was employed as a Home Health Aide at Executive Towers in Poughkeepsie, NY retiring in January of 2011.  She also worked in the Kitchen at Clinton Elementary School. On December 29, 1963, in Maldon Church St. James she married John Horace Duhaney who predeceased her in 1969.

  She was a member of the Dutchess County Church of Christ on Vassar Road in Poughkeepsie. Myrtle loved listening to music especially gospel, reading her Bible, making great food, and gardening. She watched daytime TV and talked to friends and family, went to events, and enjoyed long rides. Her favorite scripture was Psalm 23. 

  She is survived by her children, Eileen Simms, Jennifer Forrester, Lascelles Duhaney, Noel Clarke, Patrick Duhaney, Neville Duhaney, Paulette Parcell, Paul Duhaney, Garfield Tyrell, Nadine Pascoe and one sister Gloria Baker. 47 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren and 3 great- great grandchildren.

  Besides her parents and loving husband, she was predeceased by her brother George Reid; sisters Gretel M. Kurbin, Mavis Williams, and Violet Hayle. Grandchildren Neveisha Duhaney, Shamar Campbell and Jason Clarke.

  Visitation will be held on Friday October 20, 2023, from 4pm to 7pm at the Dutchess County Church of Christ 43 Vassar Road, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603.  Going Home services will begin at 9:30am Saturday October 21, 2023, the Redeemed Christian Fellowship Church of God of Prophecy, 100 Cannon Street, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
