Obituary

For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, A house not made with hands eternal in the heavens.  (II Corinthians 5:1) Sister Mandy Jackson departed this life and transitioned into eternal life on Friday, June 10, 2022, surrounded by her loving family at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie, NY.  She was born October 15, 1957, to the late Robert Jackson, Sr. and Eula Mae Rockwell-Jackson.  She was a lifelong resident of Poughkeepsie and attended the City of Poughkeepsie School District and received her GED in 2001.  During the years she was employed by Fargo Manufacturers, Poughkeepsie, NY as a Machine Operator for 25 years; Global Founders (formerly known as IBM) for 22 years.  She also worked as a Volunteer at God’s Helping Hands Food Pantry, Poughkeepsie, NY for 17 years. Sister Mandy accepted the Lord as her personal Savior in 1997 under the ministry of the late Founder and Pastor of the Mt. Calvary FBH Church, Newburgh, NY, Rev. Minnie B. Powell.  She was a member of Mt. Calvary for 25 years and served faithfully in the following capacities:  Church Announcer; Usher; Assistant Secretary to the Finance Board; Pastor’s Aide Committee Member, Missionary Secretary and Soloist.  She loved attending church and listening to music.  Sis. Mandy loved the Lord with all of her heart, soul and mind.  Her favorite Scripture was Psalm 27.  Her favorite color was “green” and her favorite restaurants were Texas Roadhouse, Applebee’s, Cracker Barrell and Red Lobster.  Her best friends were, Sis. Vanessa Roberts from childhood and co-worker Connie Denisi-Perez.  The last song that she sang at Church was “I need Thee”.  I need thee O I need thee, every hour I need thee.  O bless me now my savior.  I come to thee.  We will forever remember her singing this song. Souls were blessed as she sang under the anointing of God.  She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving daughter, La Velle Jones who was constantly by her bedside caring for her; grandson, Jerell Stratford; great-granddaughter, Jeu-ell Stratford (affectionately called “Mama’s”), 3 sisters, Betty Pierce, Magdalene (Rufus) Williams; Eula Mae Williams, who help care for her during her illness,  all from Poughkeepsie, NY.  One brother, Robert, Jr. (Mary) Jackson of Columbia, SC.  A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and her church family.  She also leaves to cherish her memory 2 nieces, Rosa Williams, and Barbara Gardener both of Poughkeepsie, NY who also cared for her during her illness. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Rufus Rockwell, and Frank Jones; one sister, Louise Jackson and brother-in-law Rev. Horace Pierce.A million of Sweet Goodbyes, We Love You, We Miss You, Peace, Love and Rest. ---The Family

Visitation will be held on Saturday June 18, 2022, from 10am to 11am at the Beth-El Church of God in Christ, 91 Hooker Ave, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 followed by a Celebration of Life service at 11am.  Interment to follow at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
